    So,

I have always wanted to have a model of the 1522 for myself, and since I have finally moved to more advanced modeling I feel like now is the time to take action. The only problem is I truly have no Idea where to start. I know Toby made brass 4-8-2's but recently I haven't had any luck finding one. The first step I want to take is the locomotive itself then the hope is to make the auxiliary tender and maybe even the SLSTA cars. I'm reaching out for any help and advice. Thanks for the time and help in advanced!

The Toby model shows up on Ebay every once in a while. Others can correct me but I think that the Toby model came out around 1969-1970, and, as far as I know, was the only commercial model of a Frisco 1500. If you do find one, expect to pay a lot of money. If you wanted to start out with a "Russian" Decapod, there are plenty of them out there.

I had a mint one posted on ebay a month or two ago and it didn't sell and I had it listed at a good price. For some reason, they don't bring the money they used to. Just keep watching ebay, they turn up from time to time.

I just bid on the used engine. It looks kinda rough and the description sounded like it too. Makes me no difference.

  8. Well, it looks like we have the same goal of building the 1522. Except in my case I want to build in 1.6" = 1' scale live steam, I'm hoping someone out there knows where I can find some of the drawings so I don't have to work completely from pictures and field measurements.
