For those of you who are expert at weathering freight cars (I'm not), here is a good test for you.

This is MP 718002, a 4600 ft3 three-bay ACF Center Flow. This car shows what the strong powdered chelating/sequestering agent we shipped in them does to the paint job. Our entire fleet was MP or C&EI cars, almost all ACF 2-bay and 3-bay.

Though this is not a Frisco car, these shipments did sometimes travel on Frisco rails - we had customers in Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma as I recall.

Note the only thing that looks unscathed is the ACF builders medallion!

Nifty, Ken. I dunno, some of those weathering gurus I've seen in MR recently can sure do a number on cars. Love to see somebody try it. I think you can still find these kits (McKean) online in various places.

A beautiful weathering job! Would look great on the BN green SL-SF covered hoppers!

Here's my version of that MoPac covered hopper in G scale, obviously before all the weathering took place. Note that some MoPac cars had the buzz saw in the center; others toward the right side.

    Enjoy.
