I bet that got you excited. Unfortunately they aren't doing a Frisco model but they are going to offer up an undecorated model for those who don't mind getting their hands dirty. http://www.walthers.com/exec/newproducts/cr/201102/Locomotive
I've got two P2K SD45s I bought at Caboose Hobbies back in 2005 for the very purpose. I have the paint stripped, but haven't got the courage up to cut the cab to get those L-shaped windshields. However, once I do, and finished these up, I'll have two Athearn/RPP SD45s to keep them company. And in a twist of irony.......I picked up a Bachmann SD45 in BN colors that I have slated for a trip to the paint shop (the offensive green & black have been stripped).
That price will keep me from filling my roster with these models. I'm just hoping they produce enough undecorated units to fill all orders. I'm going to make sure I get my order in as soon as they start taking reservations.
Back in 2005, the P2K SD45s could be had for a song. Caboose Hobbies was selling 'em for 65 bucks a pop- I got 2 Santa Fe models that way. Two more SD45s at around 60 bucks each (eBay) also made their way to my diesel roster. The Santa Fes will stay that way for runthru power, while the other two are, as I said before, future Frisco models. That's the only reason I didn't get too crazy about Athearn's release of Frisco units, even though I think they look and run sweet. It'll be interesting to see how the price goes for these things. Also, keep in mind you probably saw the MSRP, and Cardinal Rule Number One is to never pay full retail.
