    Karl,

Do you own the Walnut Ridge Frisco Depot photo?

We would like to use it in a pictorial history book we are publishing, but would need it scanned at a higher resolution.

    Let me know.

    Thanks,

    Jon Walter

Man, I love that Volkswagen in the photo. My first three cars were Volkswagens. Gotta love those white wall tires. Of the depot is awesome as well.

The photograph was taken by my father, who was the Hoxie Sub Roadmaster when he took the picture.

The original is a slide, but the digital image that is posted here was taken from a print, which was made from the slide.

The slide is in my collection of stuff.

Give me a week or two to dig it up.

I must have overlooked this one when you originally posted it, Karl.

It is a nice color example of depots in the early 1960s. It also makes me think that the roof on my almost-finished Olathe depot is a little too bright and needs to be toned down.

Any information on what the building was just behind the steps?

    Best Regards,

The attached photographs of Walnut Ridge, AR were taken by me over various dates from 1969-1978.

The depot was removed soon thereafter. In 1969, the agency was still open. In 1972, I believe that the agency was still technically open, but dualized or tripleized with Hoxie and Pocahontas.

By 1978, the depot had been closed and was abandoned.

The Frisco depot diagram set for Walnut Ridge shows a much smaller station. This is also the case with Pocahontas, AR.

Does anyone know when the original Walnut Ridge depot was replaced with the later structure?
