I just uploaded video on Youtube from our 1996 trip to Topeka, KS in 1996. It was shot by several of us on the trip. Mike DelVecchio who was editor of Railfan at that time, Tom Kelcec who came along with us, myself and others. This is the version without the captions, since I had troubles with that version. We went north on the old Burlington Route to Hannibal and then turned left at Mark and went across state to KC and Topeka. While there, we did a round trip fan trip to Emporia, KS on the ATSF. We returned via Ft. Scott, Springfield to St. Louis. The in cab footage was shot out of the old Burlington yards in N. St. Louis. Bill Webster firing, me running and Chuck Salter was our pilot engineer. This was a fun trip. The video is in three parts and is on my Youtube channel. Enjoy.
That video is enough to make a guy's innards quake with excitement and joy. That goes for any videos I see or have of 1522. Don, it looks like the fireman is tossing scoops of sand into the firebox? I'd presume it's to scour any oil residue? Seems like I've read that somewhere - it may have very well been one of your posts. Nice rods-down photo of 1522 as well, Karl. Best Regards,
Engineer had a twitchy leg syndrome...lol I don't know why, but when that guy leans way out of the rear of the cab, I just wanna give a good shove...I know, bad of me..Great video!
I'm not sure who that is. I don't think it's any of our guys and I'm not even sure where it is. Looks like somebody just sitting there for a "hero" shot.
