Tonight, I just completed a custom install of the Tsunami TSU-1000 #827101 EMD 567 in a Proto 2000 E8 SLSF 2020 for Terry Jankowski (tmfrisco). I designed a custom speaker enclosure for the install and used a High Bass speaker #SP-23SHB-08 from Litchfield Station. I also used warm white LEDs for the headlight and Mars light.

I am very pleased with the outcome and I'm sure Terry will be also. (Now to do the same to my own E8s).

Some selected pictures are provided below and a sound file recorded with my cell phone. I plan to write up the full install, post it here and possibly have it published.

DecoderPro made it simple, but double-checking the individual CVs revealed that that is what I set up.

Very nice, the install looks terrific. Good timing, too - I've got one in the queue. Looking forward to the install write-up.

    Best,

    Thanks for this.

Hmmm, this got me wondering, how far are we technologically from broadcasting the sound signal to a home theater sound system? Potential downside; it might not "follow the engine around the track". Potential upside; the quality of the sound may only be limited to how much you spend on your home theater system.

Or has this already been done? I'm often late to the party.

I once hooked up a computer stock car racing game to my PA system. 1400W amp with some 3x15 speakers. Intense. Not something I would recommend at high levels if you want to keep your hearing, but you get my drift. It definitely added to the experience.

For S's and G's I hooked the output from my Diesel Sound Simulator (Keith Gutierez project from Model Railroader late eighties) to my home theater system and attached a mobile decoder motor output to the control input on the simulator. I cranked the volume pretty good and nearly rattled the upstairs flloors.

I've also fed the sound output from a Tsunami decoder into same and the results can be nearly overwhelming! The really good amplifier and especially the wide frequency response from real speakers will let you know just how good is the sound that the Tsunami decoders produce. Soundtraxx, my hat is off to you - all the other sound decoders just make noise; yours reproduce real sound!
