Hello, my name is Don Spencer. I formerly worked for the ATSF 77-83 at Argentine and on the Emporia Sub. My modeling focus has changed to current UP switcher operations at Lee's Summit and the MNA from Nevada to KC. I used to be with Smokey Hill so got to operate on the Clinton branch a few times in Belton. I have always been facinated with Harrisonville but have becomed even more so after reading Paul's article in Classic Trains and trying to model the current MNA operation in Harrisonville.

Paul Dolkos is as great a gentleman as he is a writer and modeler.

    Welcome to the group.
I've poked around Nevada a lot more than Harrisonville; it's a good halfway spot on trips to KC. Ideal for a sandwich and break to see what the MNA will have sitting around the yard. Such as it is these days. I took some photos in the mid-90's, but never saw any trains moving.
I believe Oddballs produced some MNA engine decals 17 years ago or so. I have an N GP38 and friend has HO version, both done by Dave Cash down in Carthage. The MNA does interchange with Frisco at Aurora on friend's layout.
Looking forward to hearing about your progress.

    Welcome aboard Don!

Are you still modeling in N Scale these days? Harrisonville is a great pick to model - lots of interchange. It's been a while since the Smoky Hill days - good to know you're still modeling!

Welcome aboard Don. I see you still live in Lee's Summit. I have been out of Lee's Summit for 10 1/2 years and am amazed how much it has grown since I left.

This site is a great place to gather information for all things Frisco. There is so much Frisco knowledge on this site that I am continually blown away. Information and magazine articles available for the Harrisonville area and the Clinton Sub are way out of proportion to the importance of this branch. Believe me I am not complaining, the more info the better modeling I can do.

I am modeling the Frisco's Clinton Sub circa 1970's in N scale. I have begun building in Harrisonville, Blairstown and Harvey. I have an old track plan posted that shows how I modeled Harrisonville, which has not changed much in my new track plan. My emphasis is on the Frisco but I do have a small segment of Mopac line with interchange and crossings. Mopac is the line running diagonal on the right end of the Harrisonville area.

Link to the track plan thread is:

If the link doesn't work try a search for Clinton Sub or kcoslayout2.pdf
