Admittedly it has been quite a while since I have logged on, but I am still surprised there are no pictures of the roundhouse. I remember seeing it several times when I was five years old and there were both steam engines and diesels in the stalls. Of course this was before the new shops were built. Does anyone have any leads or ideas as to where pictures, blueprints, etc. might be found?
Jim, now that you mention it, I did a search on "North Springfield" and am not finding any photos of the actual roundhouse. There are several Sanborn maps posted here: http://www.frisco.org/vb/showthread.php?860-Springfield-Shops-Map&highlight=North+Springfield And, Don Wirth has posted several photos of action in and around North Yard: http://www.frisco.org/vb/showthread.php?5327-North-Springfield-1942&highlight=North+Springfield I do know that Joe Collia's Frisco Power has several photoss of the North Yard roundhouse. Anyone else have thoughts? Best Regards,
I did a google search and found a 1908 map of Springfield that shows the Commerical street roundhouse and also a roundhouse located West of Main street in the area of the passenger station. http://www.greenecountymo.org/img/archives/1908/pacific.jpg
The only picture of the Springfield roundhouse I've seen is a postcard as I'm sure you all have seen. Is this fairly accurate?
There are a couple of photos of my grandpa and a bunch of other guys setting on locomotives, but I think they were taken at the west shops. I'll take a look at them the next time I'm at my folks house, Christmas.
I have the full length photograph of this, my grandfather and two of his brothers are on the engine. This photograph is dated 1926. I have not seen another like this photograph.
The photographs are probably around a foot and a half long or so. I cannot remember the numbers. I will try to take pictures of the photographs and post them here.
I guess persistence does pay off. After years of looking for a photograph of the Springfield roundhouse I found one today on Facebook. Do a search for Save Our Footbridge.

I also noted when you do that search you can sign a petition offering support to restore the Jefferson Avenue footbridge. Tom G.
