    Received some parts from Walther's.

My question (forgive my ignorance). Are those sprues on the back of the speed recorders? They appear to be sprues but I want to be sure before I cut them off.

    They might be mounting pins.

    Thanks. I'll investigate further.

Craig - What parts do you have? If they are the DW speed recorders, the "sprues" are the cables that run from the speed recorders up to the cab floor. Don't cut them off.

I should take a picture when I get home.
I recognize the cable. There is a thick "shaft" for lack of a better term, on the back side of where the recorder attaches to the axle.

They are for mounting. You drill a hole in the truck and superglue them in place. They can be shortened. I have installed dozens of them.

Thanks. I like to be sure before I hack.

    Craig -

Right, I finally took a look at one in the package. The big bottle looking thing behind the speed recorder is just a casting sprue. Cut the narrow neck behind the recorder plate to the length you want and discard the rest. I usually do not drill a mounting hole in the truck - I just flatten the journal/roller bearing box with a file and attach it with Walthers Goo or, usually, Pliobond. Never have had one fall off. Bend the recorder cable to the shape you want, such that it extends up behind the side sill almost to the cab floor. Do not glue it to the cab floor or side sill, so it can move with the truck.
