Two weeks ago this coming Monday, I headed west for a Soundtraxx Dealer Training Seminar in Durango. Nancy Workman and her folks were great hosts and taught the group about the company, decoder installations and programming. They also hosted us on a ride on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Here's a link to their Facebook page and photos of the event: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.829598497070391.1073741830.108666145830300&type=1

Another KC modeler and friend of mine, Mike Borkon, and I represented KJ's Trains in Humboldt, IA, which is owned by a fellow modeler and friend, Kurt Stoebe.

Also, attached is a photo that Mike caught of the Durango & Silverton one evening as we were headed north of town for a dinner and entertainment at Bar D Chuckwagon; good food and cowboy songs.

After Durango, we also caught rides on the Cumbres & Toltec Railroad at Chama, NM and the Georgetown Loop Railroad at Silver Plume, CO.

Thats a great photo! Outstanding light, color and composition, just doesn't get better than that. Unless someone could Photoshop a Frisco locomotive on that train :) Looks like he had a lot of train too.

What's crazy is that I was driving up 550 and saw the last train of the day coming south in the distance and I was watching the scenery through the windshield, looking for a good spot to take a picture. When I thought the spot was right I pulled over to the shoulder and told Mike to get ready to take a picture. He just leaned out the window and caught that with his iPhone!

Outstanding story and photo. The nuances of these decoders are amazing. It is a nice photo. I haven't used a regular camera since I got an iphone.

That is one good looking photo! I count 14 cars .. Even the smoke cooperated with you in that photo.
Sounds as if you really had a railfans delight with all the trimmings?
also remembered eating at the Bar D several times in the past.
