Small Town Interchanges

Something I've kinda wondered about with operations is what I'm going to refer to as small town interchanges, places where two different railroads intersected in a small town outside of a yard.

Most of these intersections include an interchange track of some sort. For example, I'm looking at a place like Lamar, MO where the MP Carthage Sub crossed the Frisco's Ash Grove Sub.

By the end of the Frisco in 1980, did these small interchanges still transfer any traffic?
