What type of signals were used at the Frisco and Missouri Pacific (MoPac) crossing in Kirkwood, MO around year 1960?

I have a feeling that dwarf signals were used, red, green, or a dwarf single target. According to Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)R guidelines prior to March 1985, signals were to be placed to the right of the track.

Since this location in question was double track, a signal had to be placed in between the main line tracks and to the right of the parallel track in both directions from the crossing. I do not recall a signal bridge used here or anywhere on Frisco that I know of.

According to the track charts dated 1977 there are "A" signals placed in between the main line tracks, both directions from the crossing.

I am modeling this area on my layout and want to put signals here.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

    John,

Can't answer what type of signals was at Kirkwood crossing, but I can tell you that a signal with an "A" on it (or the absence of a signal number board) means "Absolute".

That is, you can't stop, then proceed at restricted speed/etc.
