Hi Y'all, Here's the very first caboose acquired by the San Antonio de Bexar Railroad Company. She's a beaut! Although she is not a FRISCO standard, the SABRR got this caboose for a very fair price. More cabooses to come in this office SABRR thread, as AMB FRISCO units will be sought to help round out the fleet. Enjoy! Manny
Thank you Sherrel. The SABRR secured its second caboose today. A leasee from the Frisco. A Hallmark Brass Frisco Drover's Caboose. She will need new trucks and draft gear, but is solid. She'll be arriving shortly. Pictures will be posted upon arrival. She'll get repainted in new SABRR colors and markings thanks to Keith! Stay tuned!
The Frisco leased caboose 27 to the SABRR. She will be arriving shortly. Upon arrival she'll receive a complete make over, paint job and put back into service. Here are some pics... Thanks for looking. Manny
Hey Terry, No worries. I'm fortunate to have won it. In fact, the SABRR just secured a second SLSF Baggage Caboose! So now I have three! I have my eye on a few more and then I will get some AMB models. If the AMB are still available off the board, I'd like to buy some.
Manny - In addition to all your new cabooses, your Westerfield Frisco gondola is on the way via Priority Mail. Wish I could have shipped it "FFF". Thanks again. Ken
Thanks Ken. Glad to see you got the money safely. I hope that you are not in any danger of the flooding. Rick is next on my list for three AMB kits and that will round out my caboose kits.
As for the cabooses, I'm trying to decide if I want oxide red, yellow w/boxcar brown roofs, or reefer gray and black as a paint scheme. I can't decide which.
Today I secured a second identical caboose for the SABRR. She'll be designated Caboose No. 2 for the fleet.
Hi Y'all, Alright. I started messing around with Paint on color schemes for my caboose fleet. Please excuse the inconsistency of sizes. I'm sure you'll get the idea. Here is one with a toned down yellow with boxcar brown roofs and a black decking. The second is a mimic of Oxide Red with black roof and decking. The third is MOW, grey with black roofing and decking. All safety appliances will be done in black. Yes, illuminated lanterns marking end of train will be added to each caboose, as will glass to the windows. Please let me know what you think. I appreciate your candid comments. Thanks! Manny
I just took a look at the center cupola caboose and I see that the windows on the main body are right up against the roof line. This will not leave any room for the "S A N A N T O N I O D E B E X A R" How I could have missed that is beyond me. I was in such a creative mood. I'll have to go back to the drawing board. I thought the drawings looked good. Oh well. Back to the drawing board.
Okay, Here are the revisions. I feel that they look just as good or even better than the first attempts. What do y'all think?
It´s not EZ being a green caboose... I was raised near the Frisco (tuscan red), Katy (Sloan yellow), and Cotton Belt (fire engine red). Each seemed to fit. I just never got used to the red/white Frisco or green Katy cabs. The Cotton Belt´s later "SP" tuscan red with orange ends was acceptable but the SSW boys did loose a bit of their heritage. Joe Toth
