Currently in S scale there are 2 ready to run locomotives in |-| paint scheme; a GE U25B from American Models and a EMD SW9 from S-Helper Service. Both manufacturers offers versions for the American Flyer hobbists and the scale enthusiast. S-Helper also offers DCC versions w/ & w/o sound.

    Thanks for posting this Chief...

I like seeing what's going on, "Frisco-wise" and "state of the art-wise", in all of the scales.

    Hello:

I'm new here, but I own one of the scale-version SHS Frisco SW9's. I can't say enough good things about its quality. It is very detailed (even has a full interior w/crew), runs SUPERB... and is available in DCC w/Tsumani sound. I was so impressed with it that I now have something like 4 SHS SW/NW switchers.

    Andre',

I know you may be "new here", but I'm sure you're work is familiar to many of us. I enjoy the ES&NA computer game.

Never in my wildest dreams as a kid walking the Frisco rails or the North Arkansas road bed, did I imagine I would eventually be able to play a computer game about a rail road in my little hometown (Seligman). Thank you for that.

Growing up, the rails on the east side of the depot had white letters "A&O" on them. I had friends that lived in Butler Hollow east of town. I would explore the road bed when I visited. I rode my bicycle from Seligman MO to Beaver AR to follow the rail road.

I also enjoy being able to ride the A&M excursion train from Seligman to Van Buren on occasion.

    Thanks for additional insight.

Thanks OT for the kind words. The little StLNA route has sure gotten around over the years. I've sold it world wide. I've posted a North Arkansas-oriented reply in the A&O thread that this forum contains. It can be accessed here:

I am very curious to know how many V scalers there are among this group.

I am gathering the data info and knowledge needed for my next V scale project that I'm considering: The Coal Belt region including Ft. Smith and the regions south. This will be circa 1908.

HOWEVER... another of my real Frisco passions is the 1st generation diesel era. It is SOOOOO tempting to look for a suitable project along those lines too! (Considered the FS Sub, after all, it holds a very special spot in my life. BUT... its been done in V scale. So... I dunno.)

Though I had Lionel 027 as a kid, there were times when I wished I had requested American Flyer instead. Their Union Pacific model of the 4-8-4 has always impressed me. I assume they operated into Kansas City and could be seen with Frisco power mingling in the yards? Can anybody confirm this and can the Flyer 4-8-4 be converted to DC easy enough? I am considering the use of Custom Trax S scale track products. Will the FEF require a major wheel change to operate on this track?

And what about modifying the SHS 2-8-0 for the Frisco?

Sorry, I am just not that informed about S scale steam as well as Frisco´s and appreciate any information. I figure if it can be modified around 90% to capture the spirit of a Frisco consolidation it will pass inspection to operate on my pike.

Of course, I sold my Lionel 027 in early 1962 and converted to HO as was the trend of most teenagers back then. This S scale venture is the beginning of my second childhood, but that´s another story that will continue here.
