Last month I was looking for something to do so I paced the old Kansas City, Clinton & Springfield line south of Raymore. I was surprised to see the parcel of land that Raymore Jct. was located had been sold and a new road had been built off of East Hubach Hill Road paralleling the old roadbed about 500' to the north almost to the junction. The good news is that you can almost drive up to the location unlike 20 years ago when I had to hike in about 1/2-mile. The bad news is that they are going to start building new homes butting up to the old roadbed this spring. So if you ever wanted to see Raymore Jct. before it is in someone's backyard, now is your chance.

Looking toward Raymore along the new road 12-6-05. The tracks ran along the tree line.

You never know what you find when you poke around in these old places. If you look in the lower left hand corner just below the wooden pole is a tie plate left behind from the 1936 track removal that was buried in the mud. I'll bet if you had a metal detector and shovel you could find a ton of this stuff. If you look closely there is a barb wire running thru one of the spike holes, since I didn't have a pair of wire cutters I came back the next day and took it home for safe keeping. The pole in the concrete block is a mystery, it wasn't there in a 1987 photo of the creek bed showing some of the collapsed stone culvert. Raymore Jct., MO. 12-5-05
