I was digging thru a box of old photographs and found these 2 of the QA&P 1623 riding the turn table and entering roundhouse at Quanah. Date and Author unknown Please post comments or thoughts Regards Tom
Tom, Thanks. The "Russian" is a favorite of mine, and the QA&P just adds frosting on the cake. I had not noticed it before, but that is a strange looking steam dome on #1623.
Both of those photographs appeared on pages 116 & 117 of Frisco Southwest by McCall/Schultz. No date is given and the photo credit reads "DeGolyer Library". Note the pilot mounted compressor and the patch painted "QA&P". Rich
Thanks Rich, All I have are prints and not negatives. I have one more print but it looks almost exactly like one I already posted. All to often these photos bring up more questions for me than answers. I was all but sure these were from a part of the EB Marsalis collection. Thank you for bringing more information to light. Tom
When the authors of "Frisco Southwest" finished their book, they must have dumped the photos they used at some hobby shops or train shows. I bought about a dozen that were used in the book (some with proofreader's marks on them) at a hobbyshop in Texas in the 1980's. Tom
