Since quite a few of us are now going to sound decoders and by what I have heard from others leaning toward Soundtraxx Tsunami, I thought I would make everyone aware of three new sounds they announced at the National Train Show last week as two of them do apply to the Frisco. (1) EMD 567 Turbo (GP35) (2) Dual EMD 567's (for E-Units) (3) Dash 8 "Modern" FDL-16 (Frisco had no Dash 8's)
Richard and All: They aren't even listed on the Soundtraxx website but as soon as they are I will post them. The fellow who spoke to them at the National Train Show said it would probably be sometime this week. Stay tuned!
Soundtraxx's Facebookpage states they are shipping the Dual 567's and the Modern FDL-16's, but in a true marketing lapse, they don't provide any more information than saying their web site should be updated early in the week (this week). I try to support the local guys as much as possible but there are some hobby shops that are aggressive on pricing and give good service. My three favorites are Litchfield Station , Johns Hobbies, and Yankeedabbler. On orders over $75, Litchfield Station ships free. John has a very low cost for shipping decoders.
I get mine from Litchfield Station. Great prices (20% off which is somewhat standard), great customer service, and free shipping on orders over $75. Can you tell that I like the place? http://www.litchfieldstation.com/xcart/home.php
While I don't have a budget to buy sound yet, I will pipe up and put in my two cents. Litchfield station is a great place to get your DCC supplies, if not the best. As mentioned earlier free shipping on orders over $75. I don't think Ive found a site that beats their prices. And they always have good service. And one other side note their customer service speaks clear english. Ethan
I have had good luck with Tony's Exchange and the local hobby shop here in Topeka, at least 15% off list and no shipping.
Soundtraxx has now posted the announcement for the above mentioned new Tsunami's on their website including sound samples of all of them. Here is the link: http://www.soundtraxx.com/dsd/tsunami/tsunamisound.php Enjoy and dream!
As Bob indicated before, here are the new Frisco sound possibilities with the new sound files and with the decoder types/model numbers correlated: 567D Turbo (Frisco GP35) Atlas light board drop-in replacement AT-1000 #828039 Generic hard-wire decoder TSU-1000 #827119 Dual 567 (Frisco E7 or E8) Generic hard-wire decoder TSU-1000 #827119
Oh my lands... did you guys listen to the Baldwin VO sound??? Wow! Just WOW! I gotta' get my butt in gear and get a Baldwin project finished! Andre
The Baldwin VO sound is really neat. The VO idled so slow you could see individual the exhaust puffs coming out of a four-stacker. Ken
