I do hope it's going to be a long while before B&Y Frisco U25B's are released. My funds are taking huge hits in the motorcycle realm. (Don't ask.) Gonna' take some time for them to recover!

    Andre,
I understand your realms. It's called Too Many Irons in the Fire. Hopefully things will pan out for you!

"Too many irons in the fire"... well... retired life doesn't get boring that way!

Occasionally, twain of my interests cross paths. From yesterday's ride...

I understand, my irons in the fire have too many irons in the fire. Running a farm, preparing to build a house and my wife finishing vet school is a lot to wrangle.

One of our local modelers mixes up words and mixes metaphors. His version of the above would be, "That guy has too many irons in his plate." LOL.

Make sure you go to the rapido website and suggest it as a model, if you haven’t already.

Great shot with the bike in the foreground. Where was that picture taken? Most of my railroad photography was done using a motorcycle or a bicycle. Your comment regarding retirement was absolutely correct. I'm way busier than I was when I worked fulltime!!!

Thanks for the kind words about the pic.

That pic was shot at Page, OK, on the KCS' north/south main.

That's funny...back in the 70's there was a bicycle race I raced that went just south of there. It started in Talahina, OK, and went up scenic highway 1 all the way to Mena, AR, through Queen Wilhelmina State Park. It was my first introduction to real hills; we didn't have proper gearing for it; it was a difficult race!

I'll say it would have been a tough race! Getting to Hwy 1 from Talihina meant the long climb up Wind Stair Mountain, then it's nothing but up/down all the way to Mena! You were in great shape back then if you finished that sucker!

We did Winding Stair Mountain; Mt Rich; all the way to Mena.

Back on topic with the thread...when I go to Rapido's website their link to the U25B High Hood is inoperable. Has anyone heard if they are still planning this locomotive?

A couple days ago I found that the original link at the beggining of the thread didn't seem to work for some reason. If the link I included doesn't work, find their website through a search engine and then find the U25B in the HO scale section.

Their website does indicate that they have received the first samples, so hopefully we'll have some photos soon.

  16. They have also posted video shot at Spring Creek with pre-production models. No Frisco but they are coming to life.

Rapido completely re-did their website in February. It doesn’t surprise me that links created before the new website launched don’t work.

Rapido has added a few photos of pre production models to their website

I think they look good. Looking at the Santa Fe unit, I would say these model have much better detailing than the Bowser units. I think the UP high hoods were slightly different than the Frisco units, but the UP unit looks really nice.

The production schedule shows they've received more samples, so maybe we'll get a glimpse at a Frisco unit here soon.

I just looked through Rapido's August Newsletter. They indicate that the U25B's are shipping out of their warehouse, so we should see them in stores within a week or two.

In the mean time, they shared a couple more pictures of the Frisco units.
