Athearn has just announced a second pair of road #'s in the beige PC&F 50' Rib-Side Boxcar. As a matter of reference, the first two road #'s were in the Genesis line and retailed for $29.95. These are the same quality boxcar without some of the details such as coupler cut-levers with a MSRP of $19.95. Anyone who has the first release can verify that these were very accurate and well done models. Here is the link to the data sheet:

    Howdy Bob,

I'm writing this request on behalf of Norm Eubanks:

What service did this car see, i.e., what was its use?

    Best,
    mike

From everything I have read and heard from SLSF employees, these cars were dedicated to beer service and the Schlitz plant in Memphis in particular. After the acquisition of the BN, and the demise of the Schlitz plant in the 1980s, I think they went into general service. I saw one about 10 years ago at the Little Caesars warehouse in Lenexa delivering pizza dough for us here in KC.

Now this brings up an interesting scenerio that hopefully either John Chambers or one of the Tulsa area guys can answer. During that period of time the Bama Pie Corporation in Tulsa did contract work fror various other fast food companies. I remember while living in Tulsa that something was mentioned about doing some proprietory work or a new product for one of the pizza chains. Could it have been possible that they made this dough for Little Ceasar's? If so, the cars went from Tulsa to KC.
It is a known fact that they had/have a plant in an industrial park in Owasso that makes the biscuits for McDonald's. I once heard a million a week!

Bob, I wish you were " friends " with the large scale folks. We have had some great new choices in freight cars and a few passenger cars in the last year or so, just no locos!!:(
