Where in Mobile is the Frisco steam loco displayed? I have made several inquiries while visiting there and just get blank looks. Thanks, Jim|-|

  3. OMG!!!!!!!! Someone run down and get some paint!!! That is one of the worst steam engine paint jobs I've ever seen. I really feel bad for the 1527 she must feel really mixed up right now :(
    Ship it on the Frisco!!!

Some moron should do prison time for doing that to a proud engine!

I remember what she looked like when she left the Lindenwood roundhouse after being cosmetically restored. Probably the only thing I can say is that she has paint on her, but my God did the people drop acid before they painted her? Red wheels? I'm sorry guys, but prison time should be in order.

    NAHHH
Just needs some big White Stars in the center of the wheels. :D :D :D
Then Red and White "Barnum & Baily" painted on the tender side. :p:p

Don't blame me I didn't do it
I have to say a nice coat of rust would look better and I hate to see an engine rusting away for any reason.
Maybe searching a little the care taker can be found and given a gentle but firm kick in the butt over the paint job :D:D:D and maybe they will see the error in their ways

    Have a great day

It really is a shame the city did not do their homework. The cost of the paint would have been the same to do it correctly rather than the morbid scheme it is in currently. Jeff

enough of this bashing;). I live across the bay from that fair city. Those folks don't know any better. They are eat up with ignorance. If it's not GM&O or L&N they could care less.
I remember when they first painted it. Convicts from the Metro jail did it. I couldn't beleive what I was seeing.

It really deserves a better home

    To answer the original question

    Exit I-65 onto Springhill Ave.

    Go west on Springhill Ave.

continue on Springhill Ave until you reach Municipal Park (Langan Park). At this point Springhill mystically turns into Ziegler Blvd but stay the course

continue on Ziegler/Springhill past the park. The locomotive will be on your left at the corner of Ziegler/Springhill Ave and Forest Dale Dr.

    you can't miss it

There you go, Don, Can't put them in jail - they are already there! :D

At least it is being taken care of. :)

Google Maps shows Ziegler carries the name "Illinois Central Gulf" as well as "Parkwood." If you search "Langan Park, Mobile, AL" and move the view a bit, you can see the top of the locomotive, so it's not all bad.

THANK YOU to all of you for your help! I will be in Mobile the week of 11 October and will go and see for myself. My orthopaedic surgeon is in Mobile and I will see what I can find out from him about contacts with the city about doing 1527 properly.
