SLSF 78961 Covered Hopper - 1998 I have another rare pic that I think you might find interesting. This Frisco covered hopper came through Hayti, MO in mid November, 1998. Luckily, I was watching the train go past and had my camera. I hope you can put it in the Frisco picture collection. Kevin McCoy
This car was still around as of a few months ago. I double-checked my "field" notes, and #78961 was sitting at Mexico, MO Christmas morning, 2000 on KCS (ex-GWWR) trackage. Ship IT on the Frisco!
I am looking for a photograph of a 55 ton, two bay covered panel hopper. I would very much like to either aquire a copy or be able to view it for a modeling project. Thanks. JLHouston@bossig.com

Don Wirth has posted a picture of the Monett MO Roundhouse in the "Physical Plan" section that shows a potentially overlooked feature. There is an open hopper in the foreground - 86000-class USRA 55-ton hopper, perhaps? For the braces at the top that are perpendicular to the car sides, anyone have info on the shape? If I wanted to recreate in HO-scale, would I need channel stock, an L or T-brace? Any thoughts? The Accurail 55-ton hopper is a nice model, but I think this is a feature that would make the model even more plausible, unless your layout height is at eye level.
SLSF 87xxx series hoppers I caught two more 87xxx series hoppers at Deshler, OH on June 22,2003. The first I am pretty sure is 87748. I believe the last digit on the second car (which I got two pictures of) is 6, but It is pretty well warn at this point. The first 4 digits are 8774.
SLSF 87698, 87687 and 87796 Hoppers Here are a few more shots of these Frisco (HLMX) hoppers. As far as I can make out they are numbers 87698, 87687 and 87796. This is on the River Division crossing Sandy Creek just North of Horine Mo.
Frisco Hoppers I should've posted this with the post below but I missed it. These 4 hoppers were on a Southbound train September 9th, 2003. I saw them a time or two after this but haven't seen them since. This picture my dad got for me at Festus, just South of where the Festus station would of been. When I was taking pictures at Horine, I used up the last of my film by taking two shots of each of the first three hoppers but luckily he was sitting here and by the time he got his digital camera out he missed the first three that I got pictures off. Funny how that worked out.
