Merriam was the first station south of Rosedale, and during the sixties there were several industries that the Frisco served. It was a conditional stop for trains 107 and 108.

Between KC and Paola, the Frisco had between-the-main-line passing tracks at Merriam, Moss, Eads, and Hillsdale. The placement of CTC made these tracks unnecessary as passing tracks. However, the track at Merriam remained and served as a storage track.

From my father's notes, circa late 60's
