Since we lost the MofW rolling stock photos that I posted on the recent models thread, I decided to put them here. Ken McElreath
Re: Brad Sloan's m/w boxcar Question for Brad: How did you simulate the screened in windows on your m/w car 102363 Materials, technique? Thanks, Tom
Tom, The screens where not terrible difficult, as best I recall I painted the screen material black with an airbrush then cut the material to the size of the openings. With this complete I fabricated the frames from 1 x 2 styrene and secured the individual pieces around the perimeter of the screen. Once these had dried I secured them in place over the windows. Brad
Frisco and QA&P M of W rigs I made these out of several Boley kits that I did cut and glue together to make this stuff, with some Details West kits and parts I think they are OK. They need some weathering and dirt but will be suitable "stand in's" Tom Holley
Re: SLSF 102363 Bunk Car Model Good job, Tom. The first couple pics, I thought I was looking at a real truck.
Frisco and QA&P M of W rigs Thanks Sherrel, I ran into a bunch of these Boley trucks and stuff cheap, so I got a bunch. Much past 6 " away, they look OK. Got more in the switch frogs and details than the trucks Tom Holley|-|
Re: SLSF 102363 Bunk Car Model Very neat trucks! I'm not a very good truck spotter, what year, model, make are the trucks? Thanks, Tom
Frisco and QA&P M of W rigs Thanks Tom but I have no idea about what year they would represent, they are supposed to be International trucks. I think the QA&P one is a bit earlier that the Frisco but don't hold me to it Tom Holley
