I stumbled onto the Frisco Library Site while I was surfing the web. I didn't know it existed! I used to be a part of the old FMIG and cut back on my Frisco modeling, first to do N scale modeling with one of my young sons, then got caught up in the time crunch of work as a pastor and Kansas Army National Guard chaplain. I continued to "Remember the Frisco," and have been acquiring locomotives and rolling stock and structures all of these years. I "semi-retired" (is there really such a thing?) in 2008 after a three year active duty tour --in country-- with the Kansas Guard. I now have some of my life back, and am beginning to open boxes and see the possibility of getting a layout started again. This time I am planning something with modest dimensions, but still enacting my dream of 20 years ago to model the Beaumont, KS, facilities featuring branch line steam. Howdy Larry, I remember you well. I think I was a young captain when I first read your articles in the FMIG Lines. They are all here on FRISCrg, so you can remember the good ole' days if you don't have them. Many of the FMIGers are still around. Sure glad you found us. Best regards, mike
Larry, welcome "home". Have you found that box with the Hallmark 180-series 4-4-0 yet? I know where mine is - down in the basement. I moved to Ann Arbor four years ago and still haven't derived a track plan for the new basement. Still have your bike? doug
It feels great to be welcomed back by those of you who were part of the FMIG! And even better to be remembered! Yes, I kept the box with the Hallmark 180 series in a special container with my Hallmark 1306 series 2-8-0's. I even looked in the box a month ago to confirm that it was still there! I quit riding motorcycles in 1987 thinking my young sons needed me more than I needed my passion, but in 2002, with a change of topography that brought great riding roads and an empty nest, I bought another bike (actually, Mary financed it for me so she ride with me--what a wife!) and "re-discovered" my joy in it. I upgraded to a larger bike in 2008, keeping the previous one. I'm still riding BMW's. --Larry
