    Folks:

Now that we've put down Frisco iron in our HO-scale Olathe, I've been searching through my documentation, trying locate where both the steam era water tank and stock pens would have been located.

My best guess is along "Siding #8" on the east side of the "north bound" main:

Can anyone confirm or add their thoughts?

    Best Regards,

The stock pens were located on the west (RR) side of the track at approximately Cedar and Blake. The water tank was located on the east (RR) side of the track at approximately Elm and Blake. I have a valuation map, but unfortunately, I am still sans my computer, and will have to get a scan at work; I have been borrowing the spousal unit's lap top to limp along. The general track configuration depicted in the drawings to which you have linked was slightly different during the steam era; notably, several tracks had been retired by the 1960's.

This 1917 KCCS valauation map should give you a feel for things. Surprising, the KCCS engine house is not depicted. It was located to the north (RR) of the lake in the triangular-shaped area at the right side of the map.

Karl, the maps are superb; many thanks!

Based on this information, I think that our current trackwork arrangement will be good enough, and we'll have room to add both the stock pens and the water tank.

I'm still struggling with how to best represent the old line to Belton, since our artistically-licensed history still has it in operation. That may or may not include the KCCS engine house...we'll see. This will all be easier to explain if I can get a track plan posted.

    Best Regards,
