    Folks,

I could be sleep and coffee-deprived right now, but I'm not finding an area for Frisco-served industries. So here's the opening salvo that I can find.

Can anyone provide the name(s) of the grain elevators at Rosedale, KS?

Here's the one that, if my orientation is correct, would be just east of the old Rosedale RIP shed.

I think the other one is a darker gray; I have neither located a photo yet nor had a camera in the area.

I'm thinking the one that's a darker gray showed signs of demolition-in-progress when we drove by last week.

    Best Regards,

I have heard of that elevator refered to as both the Katy Elevator and the Bunge Elevator.

    Chris,

Looks like you need a Frisco KC Terminal Track chart which is a zone by zone track schematic of the yards and customers. I can make you a hard copy if you can tell me the best way to get it to you.

Bob is correct about the elevator in the link below. That elevator is at the old MKT Glen Park Yard just east of the SLSF Frisco Yard and was served by the MKT. I believe I have also heard it referred to as the "million bushel" elevator. I think I have some photos from the 1930s/40s somewhere and it had a hugh billboard style "Katy Elevator" painted on the silos.

The elevator next to the Rosedale Yard was gray or natural concrete in a cover shot on Modern Railroads in September 1966. Later, who knows when, it was painted white. My KC Terminal track chart shows this as the Garvey elevator (track 120) and this chart is dated April 15 (tax day) 1969. Attached is my June 14 photo of it as demolition started. I passed the elevator last weekend and they have only torn down about 1/3 of the silos. Must be some pretty tough concrete. The building on the left is the Frisco Car Repair Rip Shed. Looks pretty good doesn't it?

The Frisco Track Chart will also show the Rodney and Seaboard Milling customers between the MKT yard and 19th St Yard. These buildings are already either demolished or in the process. They are really making this area look nice but a lot of history is fading away.

    Ship IT on the Frisco!

    Rick

    Rick,

I was wondering if you scan and post the KC Terminal schematics you have to the group.

I would be very interested to have a copy of them as a reference for Frisco customers in the KC area.

    Regards,

    Nick
