Merry Christmas! This Christmas is the 31st anniversary of my first HO train set. Also today, for the first time in my life, I am the proud owner of a Frisco locomotive...not just 1 but 3...and not just locomotives but a matching O/W caboose as well! I've been collecting Frisco rolling stock for roughly 20 years without a Frisco locomotive. I have a 4-8-2 earmarked to be #1529 but it's still unlettered. While "holding out" in the inexpensive world of DC, I had been looking for an inexpensive, DC, Frisco diesel for a while. I don't remember how but I got in touch with Larry Parrish who sells used model train items from a collection for the widow of a hobbiest. Larry had 3 DC, O/W, Frisco units for sell. They are #956 SD-40-2 by Athearn, #105 GP-15 by Walthers, & #774 GP-40 by Athearn. I've always been reluctant to spend money on myself so my wife told me they would be Christmas gifts from her and our girls and the rest is history. So far, I have only ran them the Christmas village we set up each year. Below are attachments of various pictures of the village including the Elvis Presley Graceland mansion that I bought my wife last year for Christmas, and the HO Thomas the Tank Engine set we bought our girls for Christmas of 2006. Since Thomas belongs to the girls, he naturally has the "right-of-way" concerning what we run. Daddy's units can run when Thomas wants to rest. However, Thomas manages to pull a little Frisco freight now and then and double-heads trains with Daddy's units once and a while...but he always has to be in front! I also included a picture of the steam locomotives DVD set my wife bought me for Christmas. My girls said that we can now chase trains without leaving the living room. Kids...gotta love 'em!

That is great to hear that you now have some Frisco power on your layout! Looks like you got a good haul too. My first Frisco loco was an Athearn GP40-2, but mine was the other number. Have fun with it!

I really like the photos. I've always wanted a Frisco SD40-2. I'm jealous!
