Press Release Frisco Passenger Cars in Jenks, OK to be saved from demolition through partnership of local individuals and businesses. ARK Wrecking Company of Oklahoma has agreed to donate the passenger cars to Townwest Sertoma. Tulsa, OK, August 14, 2010: ARK Wrecking Company of Oklahoma (Chris Lebow, project manager/estimator) has agreed to donate the ex-Frisco passenger cars located in Jenks, Oklahoma to Townwest Sertoma. Bennett Steel, Inc. (Gary Madwell) will lift the cars from their present location onto the nearby Tulsa-Sapulpa Union Railway tracks that run thru Jenks, OK. JDI Sales (John Dewberry) has agreed to allow Bennett Steel to setup their 240-ton capacity crane in JDI’s pipe storage yard. The Tulsa-Sapulpa Union Railway Company (Russell Crosby) has agreed to assist with moving the passenger cars to a new location by rail. Planning is underway for future restoration and display of the passenger cars. Townwest Sertoma is currently assisting with the restoration of the ex-Frisco 4500 steam locomotive, ex-TSU passenger car “Murray Hill” and ex-Frisco “Drover’s” Caboose 1157. These items are planned to be displayed in the Route 66 Station Village park between I-244 & Southwest Blvd. in the Red Fork area of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Townwest Sertoma has an urgent need to raise $11,500 to cover Bennett Steel’s costs involved with this project. Townwest Sertoma must pay this money to Bennett Steel by 12pm on Monday, August 16, 2010 to reserve the needed cranes for a date that still allow ARK Wrecking to meet their deadline with the City of Jenks.
