    SLSF 290-294, ALCo S-2s

Though the S-2 was a fairly successful design, these five S-2s were the only yard switchers the Frisco obtained from American Locomotive Company (ALCo).

This diagram does not reflect the later transition of SLSF 292 into the "Headless Humpster" (See my "Roster Tale" article in the June, 1988 issue of the Frisco Museum's All Aboard, vol 3, no 1). This change to a cabless booster unit happened in 1958.

The ex-NEO ALCo switchers - S-2s SLSF 295 (NEO 703), SLSF 296 ( NEO 704) and SLSF 297 (NEO 705), plus S-4 SLSF 298 (NEO 706) came along in 1964 when the Frisco acquired the NEO.
