The old Frisco depot is sitting in a park in the Northeast corner of town.

There is a also successor railroad caboose there BN 10147.

    Photographs dated 2009.

I do not think BN 10147 was ever a Frisco caboose.

I think all the Frisco cabooses were renumbered BN 11xxx.

That makes sense, I could not find any correlation anywhere for the caboose. :D

I wish the town could do a little more the depot.

But if you have ever been to Liberal, MO it is out in the middle of nowhere.

Please see the following links for a trackside view of the depot at Liberal, MO.

The depot's agent or operator bay originally faced the southwest. Liberal is on the Ash Grove Subdivision at mile post 124.1. The depot was originally located on the west side of the street at 304 Main Street. The trackside photo is dated April 1979.

This depot is a wood frame structure with board and batten siding. The roof has replaced with what appears to be an appropriate green composition shingles. Note the "x" framing on the baggage room doors. This was a common standard design used on many of the railroad's depots.

It has been acquired by the city and relocated to the north of town into Liberal City Park. The depot is in the northwest corner of the park, just south of the baseball fields.

    Please see http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sou...id=5ARpjTwqDygX7QUEcV98vw&cbp=11,7.61,,0,9.52

The current address is 1200 Northwest 40th Road (a/k/a Missouri Highway K).

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

Actually, Teddy Roosevelt was no longer president in 1912, though he ran again as a "Bull Moose" that year.

The community has again relocated the depot.

The depot had fallen into disrepair at the former park location. Fortunately at least the exterior has been nicely restored.

It is now painted in near system standard colors of gray with white trim. Also, appropriately it has been given a new green asphalt composition shingle roof.

The new location is at the south end of the business district, just north of the railroad tracks. It is now on the east side of the street and faces to the west.

The current address is 213 South Main Street, Liberal, MO 64762.

Just wish they could come up with a lower quadrant train order signal to place outside the agent/operator bay.

Great to see the community band together to appreciate, keep and restore part of their and our railroad history.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!
