Frisco 844 out of St. Louis Painting

  1. I purchased this framed print a couple years ago, and I was wondering who painted it, and what is it worth. I'm sorry for the picture quality the glass on the picture kept reflecting images of my other railroad wall art.

This art work appeared on the cover one of the Frisco's annual reports. If you remove it from the frame, I suspect that you will find exactly that...a cover from an annual report. Once out of the frame you should be able to find an artist's name.

I dug up my annual reports, and this one was used on the 1973 Report. The signature looks like Bob Ives? A quick scan of the report provides no further info. There were several reports from this period that used his art work.

BTW, the scene depicted in the painting is a rather distinctive location...Geyer Rd at Big Bend

  5. Thank you Karl!

The backing behind the picture was glued to the frame by the previous owner. Didn't know it was used on the cover of one of the Annual Reports. I don't have the '73 Annual Report, but I do have the '74 which has a cool cover as well. This print is pretty large(over two feet tall) so I know it isn't just a framed cover. Really cool to find out that it is of a real location on the Frisco and not just some made up spot.
    Thanks again

It looks familiar. :) There are fewer trees on the north (left) side now than there were in 1973.

You can see the Gateway Arch in the distance in that picture.
