When I "click" on the All Aboards from Mike Condren and posted by Tim Cannon, the pages don't open and my PC locks up--anyone else having this sort of trouble?

    Tom -

A thought regarding your problems downloading the FRM "All Aboard" issues ..... what version of Adobe reader (or other .pdf reader) are you using?

For about the past two years, I have been using Adobe Reader 7 with no troubles at all. Two weeks ago, I suddenly had problems downloading the latest "ACL/SAL/SCL Modeler" on-line publication from the ACL/SAL/SCL Historical Society. It was locking up the pc as you said yours is.

It was a huge .pdf file, so I thought perhaps I should upgrade my reader as a possible solution. I saw from Adobe's web page that Adobe Reader 9 is the latest version, so I downloaded it (no cost, but it takes about 30 minutes).

Then, armed with Adobe 9, I went back for the "ACL/SAL/SCL Modeler" - it downloaded like a champ.

Thanks again to Doug for posting the portfolio of FMIG newsletters. A nice feature of these digital copies vs. the original paper copies is that many of the photos are in color on the digital copy, and several of the b/w pics are reproduced better. Much better than the old Xerox copies!

A question for Doug - can you help locate the pic of the EMC FT set taken in Newburg while demonstrating on the Frisco? Darned if I can find it! I recall it in one of the early NL's.

Doug - Thanks. There they are indeed! I looked through the first fifteen NL's last night and gave up. Old age impatience I guess.

I was interested in looking at the pics again after visiting EMC FT 103 at the NMOT last Saturday with Craig and Dwain. It looks terrific - wish I would have snapped a picture while there. I took the message from the caption in NL17 to heart - I've had a FT 103 A-B set on my roster for several years now.

I used the Stewart FT A-B models in the EMC 103 colors and, after adding a bunch of details (Details Associates has a good detail set for them) and a few decals, they turned out to be terrific looking. Runs very well, too, as good as a Genesis. The A is powered, the B is a dummy. I cheated a bit and used close couplers in between them rather than the drawbar.

I also bought the Stewart ATSF 100-100A FT A-B set at the same time, but traded them back to the hobby shop for something else. My original plan was to have a FT A-B-B-A set using these two historic locomotive units.
