    To All:

Today Intermountain announced a new flatcar and my question of the group is did the SLSF have any of these? The first run DOES NOT include an SLSF version.

    NEW HO TOOLING

We have recently completed the tooling of a 53' AAR 70 ton flat car. It is being announced for reservation this month and the first production will be shipped late next spring. This car was built from the early 1940's through the early 1950's and remained in service into the 1990's. This car was configured for many different applications by its owners throughout its life. The version with end bulkheads will follow within the next few months.

    Bob -

Good question. A quick reference to my Frisco freight car diagram book shows that SLSF 2000-2154 are close, 53ft-6in in length. They were, however, rated for 50-tons, not the 70-tons as for the IRC car. I can't tell if the Frisco cars are "AAR" cars - they were built by the Frisco, probably from kits, in 1956. Can't tell about the other details. There is a pic of one of them, SLSF 2152, on page 85 of the Molo Frisco/Katy book.

Anybody else have any information or other pics of these cars? I don't see anything else in my book that is close.

    Ken
