The photograph is dated 8/1976. This unit has a steam generator. Note the steam generator exhaust stack and air inlet on the short hood. In addition, there are rectangular spark arresters on the exhaust stacks on the roof. This is one of several units that lasted in black and yellow paint until retirement. The locomotive is still even in the full chevron stripe scheme! This unit was retired and used as a trade in to EMD on 11/16/1976. Hope this helps. Thanks! Mark
Good news for N-scalers, Atlas is producing GP7s in FRISCO black and yellow. Locomotive numbers SLSF 500 and SLSF 502. Should be out in September. I believe they are still taking orders.
