In the pix of the Katy PA at St. Louis it looks that a Cotton Belt PA is spotted just behind Miss Katy? Interesting, how many railroads operated PAs into St. Louis! If memory serves me well, the two PAs that Alco sent to Canada to demonstrate on the CNR were painted green and gold. They may not have been lettered for Canadian National but for Alco. I wonder where they got painted Katy and if the Frisco took a look or if the Alco salesman talked to Frisco regarding a possible PA purchase? How cool, a photo of a combined Frisco/Katy lashup! Any out there? Joe Toth
On page 42 of McCall and Schultz' "Frisco Southwest" there's a photo of the Texas Special arriving at Dallas with two Frisco "racehorse' E-8's spliced with an M-K-T F7-B unit. Tom
I had forgotten about the shot with the Frisco E8s and the Katy B unit on the Texas Special at Dallas. Long out of print and longing to see a copy, I sent mine to my best friend in Florida. He suddenly passed away in June 2006 and before any of us could take any action in regards to his collection, his step-sister had disposed of his possessions. Thus, several loaned out books that he had of mine will never come home. My first collection was left in Dallas when I made the move to Germany in late 1976 and it too is like our Frisco...gone with regret. Joe Toth
