Thought the group might be interested to know that Bob Wintle of Parsons, KS is getting very close to his NMRA Master Model Railroader Certification. Bob received another Merit award for his scratch built scrap loading gon last Saturday at the KC meet. I think that leaves two more scratch built cars and then he is an MMR.

Bob you might shoot a photo of the gon and let the guys see it. Looks nice.

    Ship IT on the Frisco!

Thanks Rick. I am getting excited about getting those next two cars completed. I will try to post a couple of pictures of the car in the photo album that can be found under my user name. I may have to wait until my youngest gets home to help me shrink its size. I am not much of a computer guy.

I just thought that I would update everyone. On March 21,2009 I attended an Op session at Rick McClellan's, while there I had two cars judged. One was a Frisco Cement hopper and the second a Frisco transfer caboose. Both cars recieved Merit awards and I completed my Master builder cars certificate. This completed the requirements for my Master Model Railroader and I am now MMR #419. I will be recieving my MMR certificate at the MCoR NMRA Convention in Wichita Ks this June.
Rick mentored me through this process and was an invaluable asset in my earning this award. I thank you Rick from the bottom of my Heart! One other person on this list who encouraged me many years ago and told me somethings I have never forgotten is Ron Williams. Ron told me I could do it over 20+ years ago but it took me this long to listen. Thanks Ron. One other Frisco modeler that was an inspiration to me is Jim Senese. Thanks to you also Jim. Katyslug (Mike Peters) and Friscofriend (Bob Hoover) two very good friends have also played a part in inspirining me and keeping me focused. I treasure their advice and knowledge. They both kept telling me I could do this even when I had doubts. Thanks Mike and Bob!
It is my hope that others of you on this list will join me, Rick and Ron in your quest for MMR. The journey is a lot of fun and you will make many new and lifelong friends along the way. I know I have. So now for the challenge at least one of you on this list and he knows who he is has completed his time requirements to get his Chief Dispatcher. He is just being a little lazy on the paperwork. Get after it Budddiee!!! For those on the list that attended the Op session at Rick's if you are not an NMRA member yet I would hope you would consider joining and going for your MMR.

    Congratulations Bob!

I know you were nervous when your cars were being judged during Rick's operating session. Both Rick and Ron have mentored a number of people and serve as great examples of MMRs who give back to fellow modelers.

    Congratulations again!

Congrats, Bob on your achievement! It was great meeting you at Rick's and I look forward to seeing you again. Thanks again for your help with the decoder programming.

    Congratulations Bob!

As you said in your message, I knew all along you could do it.

I also want to take this opportunity to tell everyone out there a little something about Bob that he probably wouldn't openly talk "brag" about himself. Bob has spent his entire career in the electronics business and there is probably no other person on this forum that has more knowledge in this area. Also, being a modeler, he can segway this knowledge into the realm of DCC. He helped me set up my system, taught me how to use Decoder Pro, and is the one who has retrofitted my locomotives with Gyro-Lights and Roof Beacons. Doing this is second fiddle to him, believe me. I have been trying to encourage him to use these talents to help others in the form of a small business. Now that he's got his MMR out of the way, maybe he will reconsider doing for others what he has done for me.
    He comes Highly Recommended!

    Congratulations again Bob!

Congratulations Bob! After reading everything I want to say that I know how proud you must be of your accomplishments. I can imagine how happy you must have been. I hope that someday I can accomplish modeling master quality models myself. I am hoping someone can mentor myself as well as others younger modelers to achieve their modeling goals. Congrats again Buddie! If your ever down my way feel free to come and wire my layout. I have no idea what Im doing. LOL!

El Bobo - Congratulations! An e-high five to you. And see, now that splitting headache during the ops session was worth it!

Again, kudos on seeing it through. Perhaps someday I will have the time and gumption.

    Best Regards,

Congratulations Bob! Well done. Nice to say I know an MMR and one from my part of the country too.

BTW - you still have a standing invitation to tour the factory.
