    Hi Guys,

Does anyone have any info pertaining to Columbus, MS as I want to model it?

I am especially interested in what industries the FRISCO served there?

Also any other photos, maps that may be relevant?

Can we get Sanborn maps on the internet for Mississippi towns?

Thanks for your help in advance

    MATT

The T. J Moss Tie Company was a major employer in Columbus.

Here are some 1948 pictures. I would not be surprised if these pictures originated in the Frisco Publicity Department.

The BNSF now interchanges with the GTRA, CAGY, KCS, AGR.

South R-Board to North R-Board... First interlocker is KCS and the turn out is used for the KCS and GTRA to come in and deliver to Columbus. Just north of interlocker a short track is called the scale track. It holds 13 boxes. It is mostly used between the KCS and AGR for interchange.

Going on north, next is the depot and the short spur in front of the depot. They load gondolas with untreated ties. Going on north of the depot just a little ways at Highway 82 is the BN passing track on the right. It is used between the AGR and KCS also.

Next interlocker you come to is the Columbus and Greenville Railway (CAGY). Going on north about 50 cars you get to the CAGY turnout and the GT Pass. One switch opens to the another that would go into the CAGY yard or GT pass. The GT pass is used between the GTRA, BNSF and AGR the there is nothing else on the BNSF line to the north R-board.

Use Google Earth to help you see what I am talking about.

Does BNSF also interchange with the Luxipalila Valley Railroad (LXVR) at Columbus?

There's a shortline in the Columbus area called the Golden Triangle Railroad. I've seen boxcars like these at Columbus and in the BN yard at Amory back in the 80's and early 90's. in July 2012, I saw one for the first time in about 20 years, sitting in the Pensacola yard near the old Frisco turntable. I'd like to have anything "Golden Triangle" to run on my layout but everything I've come across online is either sold out or "coming soon." If anyone knows where I might could find something for the GTRA in HO scale, please let me know.
