Meramec River Crossing - Bridge 36.3 - Pacific, MO, MP 34.1 - Rolla Subdivision

The Eastern Division crosses the Meramec River again just west of Pacific MO.

The bridge consists of 2 through trusses spans in the center with 2 through plate girder spans on either end.

Photographs taken on March 10, 2007.

    Photographs by Rich Lawler.

Edit 2/2/2024: Steel portion of the bridge consists of two 103'-10" through plate girders (TPG) and two 153'-3 3/4" through riveted trusses (TRT). Total length of the steel portion of the bridge is 515'-1 1/2".

The east bridge pear has a cast in date of 1933. The bridges were fabricated and erected in 1938.

The Frisco crossed the Meramec River seven times in total. On the Rolla Subdivision it cross the river 4 times, on the Salem Branch 2 times and on the St. Louis Subdivision 1 time. Each crossing involves a substantial structure owing the the potential flood stage power of the Meramec.

This is 3 of 4 bridges across the river on the Rolla Subdivision.

Added bridge detail narrative, bridge number, mile post and subdivision.

    Pensive,

What kind of camera are you using for these photographs?

    Scanner?

The first one was HUGE on my computer screen and the detail was incredible!

P.S. I did about 3 months worth of restoration on the SLSF 1522.

I used a Nikon D70s digital single lens reflex camera with a 18-70mm zoom lens.

I adjusted the size and quality settings to get the maximum size that I could upload on this site which turned out to be a little less than 1 MB.
