Brian has gone thru a few boxes of slides and came up with these SLSF photos, on CD. He has many more boxes to go thru. All are on slides most Kodachrome and a few Ektachrome. Please feel free to use for personal use, and of course Frisco.org, or Hysterical Society stuff. Any commercial uses will need his written permission.
Please make your corrections, comments and additions to the photos. This is the start of a great thing he just has many thousands of slides to go thru.
If these need to be changed Keith R, please do so.
    Enjoy

Well I just tried to upload and these files are too large. So I need some advise on how to do this. I dont know if making them too small is a good idea as they are very large (most 15MB or bigger) crisp good photos and making them too small will defeat the very purpose. But I gotta get them uploaded, Someone please tell me what to do here as far as sizes and such. There are only 18 or so pictures, so far.
Maybe I'm going about this all wrong, I want to do what is best for all here.
    Please advise,
    Tom Holley

OK here we go, I sized them all under 1 MB, I hope someone on the list can photo-shop (permission already given) to re-Frisco the adulterated. If anyone wants the full sized photos let me know.
Hope they come thru this time.
    Thanks again

That GP35 711 makes me wonder which UP or ATSF engine was running around without a front door:D:D:D More likely it was replaced at a UP shop?

If you want, you can e-mail me a .zip file of them and I will make them available for download for those that want them (if necessary).

Thanks to gjslsffan and Brian Morris for all the work making these available to us. The original large file size presented a dilemma about posting them. They need to be sufficiently large to provide useful detail, yet not so large as to take forever for the viewing download.

To further this discussion (and perhaps open another thread) I suggest that for my own purposes, file-size balance is around 500 Kb. Downloads this size give a chance to get the general idea of the photo's contents within a reasonable time frame. It is important that Frisco.org have many images to serve the broad range of needs of its members.

In my opinion, it is not necessary for full-size images to reside on the Frisco.org server for general distribution. Instead, its service to the members should simply make them aware an image exists, give a general idea of its contents and who has custody. The forum provides a channel through which those desiring more detailed images can request them for their projects.

The above suggestion leaves unanswered the question about ultimate fate of the full-size image in the hands of a mortal individual. That is a question for further discussion.

Charlie: I only need about 250 more images. You got any?

No... there's a drawback to everything.

    Tom,

The replacement door on GP35 SLSF 711 is primed with Zinc Chromate Yellow.

This is a common protective, anti-corrosion, barrier paint used in the railroad industry. If you study Frisco photographs, it appears on many replacement parts. Typical examples include doors and door latches. This primer typically have a flat appearance, even when new so that it takes and holds paint well.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!
