Really nice modeling and the depot is looking very good!

Thank you Todd and Tom for your posts. Todd, you can borrow any of my ideas, I borrowed the term of a warning track from baseball so feel free to use it. The same goes for everyone! I highly recommend using foam under your track so below track level scenery can be modeled. Any foam of any thickness will let you model a small stream or ditch. It's real easy to apply. I found a sheet of blue 1/2 foam that was damaged for half off the price, $7.00. It was damaged along one edge but was otherwise OK.

OH, be sure to peel off the protective film before using, it will help when applying the caulking.

I finished completely three modules yesterday and have completed the blue 1/2 inch foam on all of the modules. Will start installing track today.

    Thank you Jim.

I still need to buy a sheet of pink 1 inch foam and this will let me finish all of the modules with blue and pink foam.

I finished plotting out the track path today and later this afternoon I will start installing track. The photos show the 04 and 05 modules along with the 05, 06 and 07 modules. Altogether they are 142 inches across the spare bedroom. One of the goals is to build a L girder bridge to support the modules.

Joe, I am impressed with the work you are doing. I am assuming that you are feeling much better since you got the proper diagnosis to you medical problem. I was amazed at the dedication and work that you and your wife put into the failed (through no fault of yours)
Tulsa convention. I know you felt badly at the time and am glad you are now able to get down to the more fun part of the hobby now.

I ran into a problem with installing track, I don't have the proper track to install it. All I have is, code 55 Micro Engineering track which I don't like that much, it's too hard to install. I will have to wait until next month to buy some more track.
It's a sad day on my Frisco layout!!!

Thank you Terry, I feel much better now that I'm being treated for my back and neck. I just wish they had done that earlier because I think I wouldn't have lost my job of 24 years. I would have 37 years now if I continued working. That's a big difference in pension funds. How have you and your family been? I really appreciate your help with the 2012 convention, you and Jim helped me tremendously, Thank You. Just wish the convention would have been a good time.

Now I spend most days working on my layout which is a real blast.

Since I'm temporally shut down with the layout I've decided to work on my Ft Smith Depot. In order to build the depot to look like the 1950's version I've decided to start completely over. A photo of the depot is on page two of this thread. The south end is a one story and the north end has columns. The depot model I've already built would take too much rework to make it look the way it should so I may sell it if anyone is interested. I think I will ask $15 plus shipping for it if that's ok. Please send a PM to me if you are interested. The depot measures 5.6" long, 2.7" wide and 2.3" high. (74.6' x 36' x 30.6) A photo of it is on page one of this thread. Please ask questions if you have any.

I did a search on the Bing search engine and found some photos of the Ft Smith depot. There was no mention of who took the photos.

Thanks for asking about my family, Joe. We are still hanging in there, plus my wife retired a couple of years ago so we have more time to see each other:) (get in each others hair:rolleyes:). I would have loved visiting the Union Depot downtown which has been repurposed into the Jazz Depot and Cherokee Yard, although we could not get permission from the BNSF to do so. I am glad you are feeling better, now, and am looking forward to watching your layout evolve.

Charlie, Would it be a good time to ask about starting a layout?

Tell her you need to build a shelf to store your new depot and your N scale collection.
Lucky the storage shelf would be the same size as the dimensions of your layout lol.
