BN #445882 Ex- Frisco Hopper

Discussion in 'Hopper Cars' started by murphy millican, Aug 22, 2013.

  1. Last Wednesday I went out watching trains with some of my friends in the Van Buren-Fort Smith area. We were rather surprised to see this sitting next to the former KCS Depot site:D.

I just saved it as a great example of weathering, although it wouldn't be quite like that in 1980. Neat to see ACI panels still on there.

  4. It has stayed in pretty good shape. I was happy to find it mostly graffiti-free. The last Frisco Hopper I saw was covered in graffiti :( Steve, If you are ever down in Ft. Smith check around the OK Feed Mill area. About once a month I catch a different Frisco hopper there.

Nice! I saw one just like that sitting at Chaffee several years ago.

Durn tootin' if you come up to Bentonville you will see some Frisco covered hoppers at the OK mill. I've got some of the members coming Saturday who have seen/will see 'em. We could make room for you, Murphy.
If someone does come up with that original number, I'll get that number on one of mine for some 1980 visits to OK.

SLSF #79982, nice catch, BN re-numbered very few Frisco freight cars other than the 86500-86799 class hoppers.
