    Ryan,

Overall and component detail shop drawings definitely existed at the time we were building the bay window cabooses.

The last I saw them was in the Consolidated Freight Car Shops in the Engineering Office in the balcony outside the Superintendent’s office. We used the component drawings to produce pasts in the various specialty shops. The master drawings were used for overall car erection. We also made an inventory of the parts we brought in at night to supply the production line.

These drawings should have been in with the drawings and plans acquired by the former Frisco Museum when the shops closed. These were later acquired for preservation by our friend, Frisco modeler and Frisco.org member Louis Griesemer. Hopefully they still exist, can be scanned and presented here for everyone.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

    Mark

Not being a real eye for detail on engines or cars. It was not very important to me, unless they was upside down.
I worked for the scrap foreman "Doc Wadell" for some time in and around the scrap yard and to add, he was just told to save certain parts and scrap others. I remember seeing the cut up box cars, and told they was for cabooses, however I have no idea what was used where.
I did see the bay window and wide vision cabooses new and admired them roll out of the shops.
As long as they was on the rail, is what counted.
Lots of things changed, up to 1980, just on a whimper. Projects was a go one day and scrap the next.
One day the shop was going to lay off, a week later, before they even got their cutoff, another order for some other cars.

Thanks, Mark. I sure would enjoy seeing those drawings posted here.
