Many of you on the forum are people I consider excellent modelers and friends, even though we've not met face to face. You know that I've been modeling for many years and have built an extensive variety of kits and scratch built models. Avoid Alexander Scale Models products unless there is no other alternative.

I just completed the second pumpjack that they manufacture. Their kits are ridiculously overpriced; the molds are about the worst I've ever seen; both kits were missing parts. The company didn't even respond after sending them two e-mails requesting that they send me the missing parts. In hindsight, I wish someone else had written a review so I could have avoided dealing with these kits and these people.

My layout is 20' X 20' and is fairly well detailed. Many of my structures are scratch built. I've built many craftsman kits--including numerous soft metal kits-- and realize that most will involve some difficulty and none are perfect. But the Alexander stuff is just terrible.

This is the first warning / bad review I've ever written regarding a company's products, but it is warranted.

This company has been around for a very long time, and I suspect that much of their tooling, especially with regard to the cast white metal parts, is worn out. I know that I have purchased one or two items under the Stewart brand, and these required a lot of fiddling to get the to turn out acceptably. Nevertheless, the passage below was lifted directly from their website. Hope you can work something out.

"As always at Alexander Scale Models and Stewart Products we stand behind our products 100%. In the rare instance of a problem, please write or call so we can be of assistance to you with your modeling projects. We’re here to help. Another thing we are proud of is that our products are made by hand in the USA."

Pretty funny, the quote from their website. Still haven't heard from them. You are completely correct that the molds may be worn out.
