I have a couple of questions. 1. What TOFC's are out there in HO scale that would you would see in the late 70's? 2. What tank cars should I use for the late 70's?

I'll let others answer for tank cars, but as for TOFC the standard was 40-footers on TOFC flats, which were 89 feet in length. Athearn's TOFC flats are 5 feet shorter, but are passable. There are other flats out there (Walthers) that would do the trick.

Now please note I was paying attention mostly to Frisco freights at this time, so I dodn't see what other roads were doing. But mostly the 40-foot trailers on flats were pretty standard- 45-footers and loger didn't come out big-time until shortly after 1980, and by then Frisco was no more.
