Being rightly proud of its new creation, i.e., the 4300 class 4-8-2's, the Frisco embarked on a campaign to advertise the "Faster Freight Service", which the new locomotives allowed. All one had to do was to write the Frisco's advertising department, and it would send a copy of the "blue print" to the requestor. I have had the pleasure of discussing Frisco steam with a handful of Frisco enginemen, and to a man, the 4300's were deemed to be among the best that the Frisco rostered.
Karl--There were also PR "blueprint" posters for SLSF 4200 2-8-2's and 4500 oil burners. There's a resturant here in Springfield called "Cedars" and they have (Probably copies of) the poster/prints on the walls. Tom Edit: Cedars has several pieces of Frisco and RR memorabila and photos on the walls.
The 4300's were beautiful locomotives for sure, both in looks and in performance. I remember "Cedars". Had dinner there one night a few years back with a very good Frisco friend and his wife. Ken ps - It was Mr/Mrs TAG1014
Are these the 4200 and 4500 drawings referred to? I'm not sure these were Frisco PR prints, but they may have been based on them. Ken
Ken--I believe the particular drawings you posted are from RMC (Maybe MR??), but they're based on the Frisco PR Dept. drawings. I was up at Cedars this afternoon and the 4210 drawing there is in the same format as the 4305 "blueprint" that Karl posted. Tom
