    Hello group,

Are the new Accurail 41' 6" gondolas a good starting point to model or do I need to make major modifications?

Also can anyone provide a photo?

I have the Frisco book from Morning sun but it doesn't include the 41' 6" gondolas.

Thanks in advance for any help on this matter.

    Larry,

    My view.

I don't think the Accurail gondola works for the Frisco, much as I would like it to. Accurail has produced a neat model from the reviews I've read. I have not seen one yet.

The Accurail car is an eleven-panel, ten-rib, 41'6" gondola. A quick review of my Frisco gondola car diagrams, 1919-1971, shows the SLSF had no such gondola configuration. The diagram book came from the former Frisco Museum in Springfield some time ago,

Get the Proto 1000 and/or InterMountain USRA composite gondola model if you want a car of this length that the Frisco actually rostered.

I notice Accurail is going to do this car in a Frisco version anyway. Not unusual. Accurail has taken many of their prior models, well done though they are, beyond the limits of prototype reality. Not a problem as long as you understand it.
