    Howdy,

Could someone post (or direct me to the location on the site) the schematics and number range for the 3800 class flat car?

    Thank you,
    Mike

    Mike -
    Glad to help whenever possible!

    - SLSF 3800-3805 were 60ft flats built by Thrall Car Company in 1964. They were equipped for handling automobile frames, 154,000 lbs capacity. Trucks were 33" Symington-Wayne with Stucki roller bearings.

    - SLSF 3806-3807 were 59ft-6in flats, also built by Thrall Car Company, but in 1968. These were equipped for hauling aircraft assemblies, with a canopy, 114,000 lbs capacity. Trucks were 33" GSC A-3's, with Stucki roller bearings.

Attached are the SLSF car diagrams for each.

If you have not seen it, there is a Mike Condren pic of flat SLSF 3803 with the body of hopper SLSF 87182 mounted on it. Mike's pics are excellent and easy to access.

    Hi Ken,
Thank you for the info about Mike Condren's site. I access his site quite often and was looking at the picture you mentioned.

After visiting Tom Holley's layout this summer, I have become inspired about working on my layout. I have a few of the MDC Frisco flat cars and decided it was time to make them a little more prototypical.

Mike - Great, go get 'em! I've been working on a Walthers GSC bulkhead flat, to be SLSF 52XX something, but nothing has happened for several months. Nice kit, but gotta get going on it! Several other things are stalled as well - been busy with travel!
