    E8A SLSF 2015

E8A SLSF 2015, a boiler equipped Mandarin orange and white GP7, and a second E8A head up a train of mostly head end cars.

    Slide is dated December 1966.

Location unknown, but probably somewhere in Kansas.

    Photographer unknown.

    Moderator: Southbound at Rosedale, KS.

Taken from the Mission Road overpass.

The freight car repair in place (RIP) track shops in background is still there (2001) along with everything to right of the train, everything to the left is gone.

    E8A SLSF 2015 "Twenty Grand".

The 4 year old E-unit still looks new at the Springfield Diesel Shop, Springfield / Kansas Avenue / West Yard, Springfield. MO on this spring day, 1954.

WOW - Karl very nice picture.

I sure wish that I could have seen them in their "heyday". Must have really been beautiful.

I was 12 at that time, but parents never ventured more than 85 miles from home. Could not quite reach it from where I was then.

Sometimes we would go way down South, all the way to Shreveport, LA, 85 miles.

This came with the Texas Special picture.

    She looks brand spanking new.

If brand new, I would think the whiskers would have their white outlines.

The air horns have been masked for shipment from General Motors (GM) Electro-Motive Division (EMD) at La Grange, IL.

    And it is so clean!

I think the white outlines were applied later.

The white color outline highlights around the gold were applied by the Frisco after delivery.
