Finally getting some more pics uploaded from my trip to the High Line in April, 2011.

The black chain link fence was added as a safety feature when this bridge became part of the bike trail.

Not sure when the "art" was added.

Anybody have an idea if it was like this when the bridge was in rail service?

The art work leads to a very un-railroad-like final result. My condolences to all Frisco fans.

It does, however, look like the sort of thing put on bike trail bridges to inspire or motivate. The trail looks very well done, especially if the surface crossing the bridge matches the surface of the trail in "bridge153.7lookingnorth02small.jpg."

I wish I lived a little closer to Bolivar to be able to ride the trail. There would be visions of "Racehorses" or Consolidations in my head while pedaling!

Thanks for posting the pictures, Dale. I was in Bolivar earlier this summer.

I stopped by the MFA feed mill to use their scales and took the opportunity to look that area over.

I was curious as to the location of the depot.

Thanks for pointing it out in one of your photos.

    Dale,

    Thanks for the photographs.

Anyone know the year built on this bridge?

The embossed FRISCO LINES intrigues me. This would seem to indicate an era prior to the Frisco emerging from receivership in 1947 and ditching the "LINES".

However, the bridge construction looks to be more like what I've come to expect of 1970s-era construction.

    Best Regards,

According to the Clinton Subdivision Bridge Records the bridge deck was built in 1942 and was 124'-9" long.

This would be a good guess for the bridge build date too. On the bridge record form this bridge was penciled in between two other bridge records as if it were built at a later date than the other bridges on the list. Most of the bridges listed piling driven and deck built dates in the 1920s-1930s.

I didn't see a builders plate when I was photographing the bridge.

A good friend Deane Tunnly and I have been working on a V-scale model of this bridge.

We have some questions about the top surface of the bridge.

Would ballast typically have been used on the surface of the Frisco's concrete bridges?

The deck would have been ballasted.

Nice job with the V-scale bridge. I will eventually need one in N scale for my layout.

Kind of thinking out loud here, any idea if your V-scale drawings will translate to a format compatible with rosin printing by a rapid prototyper?

    Thanks Dale.

We are still working on on some final textures and adjustments, but the first version is looking right at home on the Highline route.

Sorry. I'm not sure what you mean by "rapid prototyper".

    A rapid prototyper is a 3-D printer.

I thought that might be where you were going. Wow!

Wouldn't that be cool on your layout?

Our model was created in Gmax. My friend Dean is doing most all of the heavy lifting. :)

I'm just helping with some textures. I would think the key or challenge is getting the virtual model to export into the 3D printer software.

My understanding is "exporters" are additional software that translates the model created from the 3D creation software into something the video game software or printer software understands.
