Would someone please look up road number 12304 and see if it's a former Frisco caboose. I wouldn't begin to know where to look.

  2. It’s not Joe. The cupola windows are easy clue. Roof ends, Window layout etc….

I could not find build info for this particular road number but it falls in a series built for the BN late 79 to early 80 from what I found.

Comments on the same picture on the St. Louis Railfans and Modelers Facebook page suggested the caboose spent a lot of time at Lindenwood before showing up on the west bound train the other day. Could it have been a CB&Q caboose?

Thank you for your response guys, I was hoping it would be a Frisco caboose.

BNSF sent a three car inspection train westbound from Lindenwood this morning that passed Kirkwood around 07:20. It was led in style by Warbonnet 758. Unfortunately, low morning sun made framing a decent oncoming shot near impossible, but its consolation prize was a decent going-away shot of the "theater car" at the end. 0728 0720 WB Inspection Train 758 (2) c.JPG

Not exactly today, but yesterday, Monday, September 26, the late evening westbound train had BNSF 7612 pushing long hood forward. Neither of these two things is unusual, but there was an empty drop-center flat (BPAX 900) coupled behind the pushing locomotive.

I guess towing the flat car with its articulation is safer than attempting to push it, especially against the mass of the rest of the train.

More likely that there's a serious problem with the car, making it rear-end-only, possibly a drawbar or a brake malfunction.

Yeesir, you are exactly right. The trucks are Talgo mounted/type, which lends to string-line/shove issues, just like models have. Loaded there are very few, MT there are many shove/draft problems. All kinds of train make up/handling issues, also differences, based on subdivision restrictions too.

The covered hopper was in a westbound train through Kirkwood 08:00 Sunday morning, February 26. It declares sentiments many of us have, I am sure. Shooting into the morning sun made it difficult.

(klrwhizkid) Here it is with come correction for visibility.
